S&T has partnered with Collette Travel Services to offer two thrilling options to view the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, in or near the town of Glendo, Wyoming.

The 12-day tour swings through stunning Rocky Mountain National Park and historic Cheyenne before transporting you to a prime spot along the eclipse centerline in eastern Wyoming. The tour continues on to many exquisite natural destinations in Colorado and Utah.

For those travelers whose main destination is the total solar eclipse, we offer the abbreviated 5-day tour. As in the longer tour, you'll traverse the Rocky Mountain National Park and visit historic Cheyenne. Then you'll close the trip with totality, viewed from the eclipse centerline in eastern Wyoming. Both tours begin and end in Denver.

12-DAY TOUR: TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE PLUS CLASSIC COLORADO ROCKIES

Day 1: Denver, Colorado – Tour Begins

Join us in the “Mile-High City” of Denver to begin your eclipse experience. Upon arrival at Denver International Airport, you will be greeted by your Sky & Telescope representative, who will transfer you to your Denver hotel, the Sheraton Downtown. Gather tonight to meet your fellow travelers at a welcome dinner. Today dinner will be included.

Day 2: Denver – Rocky Mountain National Park – Boulder – Denver

Travel to Rocky Mountain National Park to discover the true meaning of “panoramic.” This celebrated “Roof of the Rockies” offers views of towering peaks and rugged canyons as you experience one of the largest national parks in the United States. Next, make a stop in Boulder, home of the University of Colorado, and enjoy an exclusive presentation at its Fiske Planetarium. Later, return to Denver and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 3: Denver – Cheyenne, Wyoming

Head north to Wyoming’s capital city, Cheyenne. Embark on a guided tour of the downtown area before enjoying time at leisure to explore on your own. Gather this evening for dinner with your fellow travelers and a briefing to review tomorrow’s eclipse viewing. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 4: Cheyenne – Glendo – Eclipse – Cheyenne

Eclipse day! Early this morning, travel north to the small, welcoming town of Glendo, Wyoming, S&T’s carefully selected eclipse viewing spot. Glendo will offer a full 2 minutes and 30 seconds of totality, only 11 seconds less than the maximum viewing anywhere! You will be awed by a spectacle that has not been seen in the continental United States for 37 years. Later today, complete your eclipse experience by raising a toast at a celebratory dinner with your fellow travelers. Today breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be included.

Day 5: Cheyenne – Grand Junction, Colorado

Today, journey south through Wyoming and Colorado to make your way to Grand Junction. En route enjoy a glorious ride past Vail, Breckenridge, and other picturesque ski areas in Colorado. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 6: Grand Junction – Colorado National Monument – Grand Junction

Visit one of the grand landscapes of the American West — Colorado National Monument. Travel along the Rim Rock to see a colorful panorama of deep, sheer-sided canyons and high rock towers. Later, journey to Colorado’s wine country to learn about one of the region's up-and-coming vineyards and sample the fruits of its labor. Tonight, relax and enjoy the company of your fellow travelers at a winemaker’s dinner at the vineyard. Join your Sky & Telescope experts for a little stargazing amidst the grandeur of the mountains. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 7: Grand Junction – Arches – Canyonlands – Moab – Grand Junction

One amazing park visit follows another. In Arches National Park, see the world’s greatest concentration of natural sandstone arches, as well as an astounding variety of geologic formations. Next, arrive at Canyonlands National Park and travel to the Island in the Sky mesa, which rests on sheer sandstone cliffs more than 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain. Pass through the town of Moab, a popular filming location for western movies since the 1940s, before returning to Grand Junction. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 8: Grand Junction – Silverton – Durango

Drive south to the small mining town of Silverton, a national historic landmark. Hidden high in the San Juan Mountains, this town blends spectacular scenery, Victorian charm, and historic architecture. Then it's “all aboard” the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. This 1881 coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive was built to haul silver and gold ore from the San Juan Mountains . . . but you’ll soon realize it is the view that’s truly precious. This evening, enjoy an Old West adventure filled with traditional cowboy food and entertainment. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 9: Durango – Mesa Verde National Park – Durango

An incredible day awaits at Mesa Verde National Park, best known as the home of the ancient and mysterious Ancestral Puebloan civilization. Visit the fascinating Spruce Tree Cliff Dwellings, two of the largest, built between 1211 and 1278 by this fascinating Native American culture. Tonight, take advantage of the dark night with some casual stargazing hosted by your Sky & Telescope experts. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 10: Durango – Colorado Springs

Enjoy a relaxing ride to Colorado Springs. En route, marvel at the scenery as you depart the San Juan National Forest, cross Wolf Creek Pass over the Continental Divide, and pass through the beautiful Rio Grande National Forest, a vast expanse of wilderness. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 11: Colorado Springs – Manitou Springs – Colorado Springs

Depart for Manitou Springs, home of Pikes Peak — the legendary symbol of the 1859 Gold Rush. Embark on a journey aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the world's highest, for an 8.9-mile trip to the top of 14,110-foot Pikes Peak. During the journey you’ll see magnificent views and, with luck, animals in their native habitat. Later, travel to the Garden of the Gods, on the National Register for Historic Places, to marvel at the towering sandstone formations and enjoy a wonderful view of Pikes Peak. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner to celebrate your eclipse experience and a trip filled with scenic delights and railway adventures. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 12: Colorado Springs – Tour Ends
