elestron recently announced its latest planetary-imaging camera, the Neximage 5 ($189). This CMOS color video camera boasts a generous 2,592 × 1,944 array of 2.2-micron square pixels in an extremely compact housing. The camera features a rolling shutter capable of recording up to 52 frames per second in certain capture modes. The Neximage 5 includes ICap 2.2 camera control and RegiStax 6 stacking software, allowing users to combine only the sharpest frames recorded, producing a highly detailed final picture. Each camera comes complete with a C-to-1¼-inch nosepiece adapter and USB 2.0 cable. Requires Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.
