New from Chinese manufacturer Kson, the Ekcentrik Eklipse Pro Mount (U.S. $699) offers Go To pointing in a stylish package. This innovative mount can support telescopes up to 40 pounds and features 1.8° micro-step motors with 0.075-arcsecond resolution, combined with precision-machined worm gears to ensure smooth, vibration-free tracking. Its Ekstream Go To controller includes a database of more than 30,000 celestial objects and programmable backlash compensation. The mount accepts Vixen-style dovetail mounting bars, and it also includes a sturdy stainless-steel adjustable-height tripod, an illuminated polar-alignment scope, and a 12-volt DC power supply. An adjustable equatorial wedge accessory (shown above) is available for an additional $225, as well as an innovative binocular bracket for an extra $100.
