The new SW 90Mak MultiMount ($350) from Sky-Watcher U.S.A. delivers a lot of telescope in a compact package. This 90-mm f/13.9 Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope comes with a 1¼-inch roof-prism diagonal for correct-reading images through supplied 25-, 12.5-, and 6.3-mm Plössl eyepieces (yielding magnifications of 50×, 100×, and 198×, respectively). The 8×20 finder also produces a correct-reading image. The alt-azimuth mount has motor drives on both axes and a maximum slewing speed of 3.4°/second. It’s designed for day and night use, and it can “learn” up to six preset aiming points. A novel system lets you point the scope at any celestial object and the mount then tracks it automatically. And for folks on the go, the whole setup fits into a stylish backpack that’s included.
