Celestron partners with high-end video camera manufacturer The Imaging Source to bring you the new Skyris planetary camera series (starting at $449.95). The Skyris 618M and 618C (monochrome and color) cameras feature a highly sensitive Sony IC618 CCD sensor with a 640 × 480 array of 5.6-micron pixels. The high-speed data transfer of USB 3.0 allows you to record up to 120 frames per second on bright subjects. Skyris incorporates a global electronic shutter and weighs only 3.6 ounces (102 grams). The camera is capable of recording in 12-bit mode and comes with a C-to-11/4-inch nosepiece, a 10-foot USB 3.0 cable, and Celestron iCap PC camera-control software. In the April edition you stated that the "die was cast" in 2003 speaking of web cam imaging and you referred to your article in S&T December 2003, page 30. I respectfully would refer you to my article Shooting The Planets With Webcams, S&T June,2003,page117. Perhaps the die was cast 6 months earlier.
