QHY Camera

QHY Cameras integrates Sony’s new large Super HAD CCD detectors in the company’s latest release, the QHY12 ($2,699). The camera features a 14-megapixel Sony one-shot color sensor with 5.12-micron-square pixels in a 4,610 × 3,080 array. This low-noise Sony Super HAD sensor with microlensing typically does not require dark calibration, and it downloads a full-frame image in approximately 25 seconds via a USB 2.0 high-speed interface. The camera weighs 400 grams (14 ounces) and includes regulated, dual-stage thermoelectric cooling down to 45°C below ambient temperature. Its adjustable camera housing allows you to square the chip to your telescope’s optical axis. See the distributor’s website for additional details.
