Asteroid Day is an international movement by scientists and citizens to learn about and protect Earth from asteroids.
From 5 to 7 p.m., educators will lead several family-friendly activities demonstrating the nature and behavior of these rocky inhabitants of the solar system. Starting at 7 p.m., former astronaut Charlie Walker and several other scientists will each present a 20-minute program dealing with various scientific aspects of asteroids. Following these presentations, the speakers will participate in a panel discussion and answer questions from the audience.
