Public Talk by Michael Kaufma at Evergreen Valley College:

“Water in the Universe: from the Milky Way to Distant Galaxies”

Overview:
Water is widely believed to be the key
to the existence of life. Water was discovered in
the interstellar space in 1969, and is now known
to be wide-spread in the universe, from nearby
star-forming regions to distant galaxies.
Dr. Kaufman will discuss how we study water in
the space.

About the speaker:
Michael Kaufman is Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics & Astronomy at San Jose State University. Dr. Kaufman's astrophysics research focuses on the interactions and feedback between newly formed stars and the interstellar medium—the raw material from which stars form.
