In this free, non-technical, illustrated talk, Dr. Lori Fenton (of the SETI Institute) will give an overview of the Curiosity Rover mission on Mars, explain why it landed where it did, and discuss the plans for the mission in searching for signs of water and the conditions that might have been right for life in the past. She will give the audience a feel for what it's like to be on the surface of the red planet. (Part of the ongoing Silicon Valley Astronomy Lecture Series at Foothill College, in Los Altos Hills.
