STEM in the Sky Astronomy Series: Jupiter & Constellations Event

The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center and its partner the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation will host the next installment of the STEM in the Sky Astronomy Series on Friday, April 28 from 7 – 10 p.m. with an exploration of the planet Jupiter and constellation tours of the night sky.

The event begins with an astronomy presentation at the NASA Visitor Center’s Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. followed by night sky observations through telescopes and binoculars on the grounds of the Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Two 30 minute constellation tours of the night sky will be offered at 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. The constellation tours are limited to 25 people and will be available on a first come first serve basis. Astronomy-themed movies, hands-on activities and crafts also will be available throughout the event.

The STEM in the Sky Astronomy Series will end with the Total Solar Eclipse event on Monday, August 21.

The event is free and open to the public. The Astronomy presentation will take place regardless of weather; however, the telescope viewing and constellation tours are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

The STEM in the Sky Astronomy Series is funded in part through the 2015 Competitive Program for Science Museums, Planetariums, and NASA Visitor Centers (CP4SMPVC+)
