Make plans for the last weekend in April to attend the largest annual astronomy trade show in America, at the Rockland Community College campus in Suffern, New York — the Northeast Astronomy Forum & Telescope Show (NEAF). Hosted by the Rockland Astronomy Club and cosponsored by Sky & Telescope, NEAF features the latest telescopes and accessories from more than 100 vendors. It also showcases talks by leading amateur and professional astronomers, and workshops geared toward all levels of hobbyist, from beginner to advanced.

This year's talks feature S&T's own Robert Naeye on the transit of Venus, presentations on the telescopes of the future (the James Webb Space Telescope and European Extremely Large Telescope), and much more. There are also workshops on solar imaging and amateur spectroscopy.

Astrophotographers may want to check out the 7th annual Northeast Astro Imaging Conference, held at the Crowne Plaza Conference Center in Suffern on April 26-27. The event features lectures from some of the biggest names in astro-imaging revealing their tricks and techniques.
