DescriptionWas outside with my camera when I happened to notice Sundogs and then a Solar halo starting to form, had lots of Cirrus clouds and -25c temperature, ideal conditions for the formation of these phenomenon.

DescriptionWispy clouds rolled in late in the day. When the Sun went down the temperature dropped and a nice ring formed around the Moon.

DescriptionWhen I was outside I noticed a solar halo starting to form, by the time I got my camera ready and set up just outside the city, 30 mins, it had formed into a 360 halo with beautiful colors.

DescriptionThis image depicts the change that has occurred in the red airglow, both in size and position (as well as shape). Where the zodiacal light cone would be you can faintly see a touch of blue and yellow airglow as well. This image was started nearly 45 minutes after it had become fully dark - the brightening near the horizon is not laggard twilight, but van Rhijn brightening of the overall airglow layer.

DescriptionA vortex, probably from a passing plane, seems to be suspended in a display of colorful nacreous clouds after sunset. The vortex was writhing and corkscrewing, giving a stunning 3-dimensional effect.

DescriptionWhile photographing late night reflections on the lake under a dark sky, a brief aurora disply illuminated the northern horizon.
EquipmentCanon Digital Rebel XT, 35-85mm objective on a tripod, expo 4s, iso 100.
DescriptionIt was a wonderful display of Noctilucent clouds with changing and moving structures all night, they almost look "electric", a night to remember.
