PhotographerRobert HortonLocationFoster, RIDateJanuary 3, 2012EquipmentBackyard observatory 12.5" F5 telescope / Nikon D70 camera bodyDescriptionThis photo was taken with a Nikon D70 body attached prime focus on my homemade 12.5" telescope. The ISS passed nearly overhead that night, and it's track took it close to the moon. I had my camera ready, and took some shots of the moon to check for focus and exposure. As the ISS neared where I had the telescope aimed, I just had to nudge the scope a little to put it just ahead of the space station. When my target entered the center bulls eye of my telrad finder, I tripped the shutter. |
