M20 consists in a conspicuous emission nebula (red) and a remarkable reflection nebula (blu). Its name is due to the three-lobed appearance. Its distance itìs about 2,500 light-years from us. |

It is about 45,000 light years in diameter, and the inner part of the galaxy (about 3000 light years in diameter) is rotating in the opposite direction from the outer part of the galaxy (about 40,000 light years in diameter). |
