Description

Rosette nebula in constellation Monoceros (magnitude 6, 80 arcminutes). In the center of the nebula lies the young (4 million years old) open cluster NGC2244. The intense ultraviolet light from the cluster's brightest stars are opening a hole around them, and they could eventually cause the dissipation of the entire nebula.

Description

The Andromeda Galaxy is a favorite of imagers due to its image scale and obvious structure. This image highlights what is possible with CCD cameras under even the most light polluted skies as it was captured with minimal exposure time from within the city limits of Oakland, CA. 9 minutes luminosity, 3 minutes each RG&B. Captured and calibrated in MaximDL; post processed in Photoshop CS2.

This was my second shot taken with new stock Canon 40 D camera and Canon 300 mm F 2.8 Image Stabilized lens

Description

This is a wide field shot of Sadr, the center star in Cygnus showing many deep sky splendors. Easily visible, are Vandenberg 31 and 32...blue reflection nebulae that were easily captured by the Canon, as were some dark nebulae B343 NGC 6914, and IC 1318. Clearly, the latest DSLR from Canon is approaching cooled CCD camera image quality
