Description

Tornado strikes Western Limb! Finally after enduring months of Monsoons and then reseeding the soccer field we got back on today. Great seeing conditions and transparency, always a great combination!

Description

About this image A rare sky event occured in the early morning hours on Sunday, July 15th 2012. The Moon passed in front of the planet Jupiter and its four satellites, and blocked them from our views for about an hour. This phenomenon is known as Jupiter occultation by the Moon. Jupiter, Io and Europa "exiting" the Moon with a bright meteor at close proximity.

This is the first of two ISS transits across the Sun visible from the same geographic location on the same day. The ISS crosses the sun lighting fast in about 0.7 seconds. The photograph is a composite with each ISS image separated by about 0.15 seconds.

Description

Saturn imaged from Northern California, San Jose area, in variable seeing (good to average). The image shows the main cloud band structure; the C-ring is plainly visible, with the shadows of planet-on-rings and rings-on-planet also evident.
