Description

New year's day morning gave a chance for a capture of the crescent moon rising through the ancient Greek temple of Poseidon at Sounion Greece, little before the beginning of morning twilight. The Moon was 26 days old (three days before the New Moon phase) and 11% illuminated.

The storm seems to be less bright than last week, probably because the strong wind on Saturn have stretched it out. New cells are visible!! A great occasion for the planet photographer!

Description

The composition shows a sequence of images of Jupiter showing the SEB revival region on Jupiter as it rotates into view. At the time, the SEB revival occupied over 85 degrees of longitude. The shadow of Ganymede is visible in the first 7 images of the sequence.

this image was taken when a huge filament/prominance broke loose from the Sun. In CaK however we only observed the prominance outside the solar limb.
