DescriptionThe center of our Milky Way galaxy is just above the Sagittarius teapot asterism. This image was taken at the Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival star party on Thursday night. The Astonomical League was having its annual convention; it was hosted by the Salt Lake Astronomical Society. Conditions were ideal: almost 8000 ft of altitude, clear weather, one of the darkest locations in the continuental U.S., and over 50 telescopes available for public viewing.

DescriptionAt 10,000ft above sea level, Blue River, Colorado provides some of the clearest skies around. In this photo you can see Sagittarius just to the upper left of the middle of the picture. The bright glow in the middle of the picture is the central region of the Milky Way Galaxy. Partially obscured by the trees, Scorpious is relected in the water, and covers the right hand portion of the photograph.
