Canon Rebel XTi (Hutech modified) with an 85mm Nikkor lens @ f/2.8; 6 second exposure at ISO 100. Wide-beam flashlight used to paint the windmill and tree with light.

Description

As I was driving north on Humphrey road in rural Kansas just northwest of Topeka, I spotted this fully intact windmill that beckoned to be the foreground for a twilight image of the planet Mercury.

Waxing crescent Moon with very bright Earthshine above the Pleiades (Seven Sisters) which are also above the bright planet Mercury. Below Mercury is the very red variable star AS Arietis.

2 Canon Rebel XTi cameras with 18-55mm zooms. Homemade tracking plateform (Haig Mount) (stepper motor driven). Camera settings: 18mm (28mm efl), f/4.5, iso 1600. 4 minute exposures.

Description

2x4 image mosaic. 4 with each camera. Covers more than 180 degrees rom Little dipper on left to Scorpio on the right. Noise reduction with Noise Ninja 2, cropping and histogram stretch (modest stretch) with Picture Window Pro 2.5, auto stitching done with Panorama Plus 3 (Serif, Inc in the UK). Did an extreme historgram stretch.
