Description

This photo shows crater and albedo features on Mercury taken with a modest 6" scope. Apollonia is visible at top of photo, along with numerous craters and other albedo features. Imagers should attempt Mercury with even modest equipment, the results can be surprisingly good!

Description

This image was taken as part of a comparison between several Solar Scopes. This image really shows very well the structure of the active regions and sunspots. 1158 is still seen at the bottom right and 1161/62 in the upper half.

Description

NGC 2682 (M67) is one of the oldest open clusters in the Milky Way (abt. 4 billion years), and has many stars similar to the sun. It also has numerous red giants. It has a yellowish cast due to a lack of bright, young stars. A total of 1 hour, 20 minutes of 3 minute exposures were taken at -8 degrees Celsius, and at an elevation of 8300 ft. Dark and flat frames applied.
