Description

Digital composite of the solar corona from 28 frames. A total of seven 11-stop sequences (from 1/500 to 2s) were acquired during totality, of which only the best four (exp. times 1/15s, 1/8s, 1/4s, 1/2s) were used in the composite. In spite of the presence of high cirrus clouds, the wispy details of the inner corona are clearly visibile.

Description

I went to the coast of my city, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. I was very wind and many clouds in the sky. I went up the rocks on the beach of Costa da Caparica, in Almada, Portugal and tried to record the beautiful conjunction between the Moon, the Pleiades and the planet Mercury, one of his rare appearances. I took several photos with different exposures, in some images we can see the track of an airplane. In the Crescent Moon we also can se a strong Earthshine.

Description

Using email from CALSKY.com I was able to set up all equipment and by prepaired at the correct time of transit. I captured an AVI of about 1800 frames at 10 frames per second. The transit lasted about .8 seconds so only 7 frames were stacked using Photoshop. I think an article on Calsky in Sky & Telescope would benefit many of your readers. Thank You Thomas Fretz
