Description

M100, also known as NGC 4321, is a spiral galaxy located 55 million light years away in the southern part of the constellation Coma Berencies and is one of the brightest galaxies in the Virgo cluster. This galaxy has an apparent magnitude of 10.1 and is 160,000 light-years in diameter. It was discovered by Pierre Mechain on March 15, 1781 and added to the Messier catalog after Charles Messier made observations of his own on April 13, 1781.

Description

The sky was hazy and a bit cloudy on May 8 2012. I waited for a few minutes before sunset to try to image the sun hoping to get a glimpse of AR 1476. My patience was rewarded though only for brief moments before and during the sunset.

I visitted Yosemite Glacier Point midnight after the moon set. Here is the famous stargazing place in summer seasom, but I was alone at that night. I experienced good sky and landscape view, and silent night.

The central path of this eclipse was very narrow and the day was rainy, was very difficult to take this photo. Magnitude 0.998. Very impressive.
