PhotographerKenn HopkinsLocationChula Vista, CaDate10-26-2011EquipmentMegrezII 80mm with Field Flattner, SkyGlow Filter( 1/4 miles away from a Shopping Center )mounted on a C-8 using a CGEM mount. 35 - 3 minute images stacked in MaximDL, stacked iamge saved as tif file taken into Photo Shop for final color corrections.DescriptionThe North America Nebula is large, covering an area of more than four times the size of the full moon; but its surface brightness is low, so normally it cannot be seen with the unaided eye. Binoculars and telescopes with large fields of view (approximately 3°) will show it as a foggy patch of light under sufficiently dark skies. |
