Description

Comet Garradd (C/2009 P1) in southeastern Hercules. North is to the right. Settings: f/2.8, ISO 800, RAW Mode. Exposures: Stack of 8 images for a total exposure of 16 minutes 41 seconds.

LX200ACF 16" and SBIG ST-8XME. Focal reducer used was Lepus 0.62X.

Description

The close up Garradd picture shown was taken with my 16” telescope and in this case I used a median stack of 7*60sec + 11*120sec LUM subs. The number of staked on stars LUM subs were 14*60sec + 34*120 + 2*300sec pictures. Picture processing were done via CCDStack2 using darks, flats and bias frames and further picture enhancements done via Adobe Photoshop CS4. The color information in the submitted Garradd picture were taken at the same time using a WO FLT-110 telescope & a Canon 20Da camera.

I used a Celestron C9.25 with a Celestron F:6.3 focal reducer in front of a Canon 500D DSLR, autoguiding on the Comet itself. The separate images were stacked using Registax4, with final edits in Photoshop CS4. The exposures were 4 minutes, taken 20 minutes apart between 11:30pm on the 28th, and 3:30am on the 29th.

The comet Garradd betwin M71 and "zeta sagittae". Field about 1º45' x 1º. North is up. The picture is shooted 35 miles apart city lights.
