Equipment

Barndoor Mount with unmodded 50D and 50mm 1.8 (@f/4). I also used an Astronomik CLS clip filter to try and bring out the North American Nebula more. Over the course of two nights: 80-90x(30s,1min,2min,4min and one 8min) 30 darks 20-25 flats 20-25 dark flats about 30 bias Stacked in DSS and processed in photoshop.

Description

This is the Cygnus area of Milky Way, an area I've been practicing on most of the summer. I'm amazed at how rich this area is on a clear night! This image is the result of many nights of practice, both in learning the process of imaging and how to handle in post work.

I put this montage together to demonstrate the various ways narrowand data can be processed, by assigning to diferent color channels, to accentuate the chemical compositions of the emissions. Clockwize from the top: 1. Ha[OIII] Bicolor 2. RGB = Ha[SII][OIII] 3. HST ( RGB=[SII]Ha[OIII] ) 4. CHFT ( RGB = Ha[OIII][SII] )

Description

Closest, brightest supernova in 40 years - can be seen with binoculars (good ones). Visually, I could see the supernova, but not M101.

Jupiter with its GRS coming into view at the limb a small bright disturbance at the trailing end of the storm on the extreme area of the limb and a large barge with a very bright disturbance next to it center, Note: Parallel View ( 3D cross Your Eyes ) could be viewed Enjoy!.
