For our location, the sun set within a few minutes of the start of the eclipse. There was just enough haze to reduce the light enough to capture this view. |

PhotographerJohn DolbyLocationPage, Arizona USADateMay 20, 2012, 18:34:30-ish MSTEquipmentCanon Rebel XT; 300mm Lens with IS (hand-held); Baader AstroSolar Film; Color added in Paint Shop Pro.DescriptionI used NASA's eclipse maps to locate the place where the centerline crossed highway 89, south of Page, AZ. To my surprise, when I showed up there for the eclipse, a handful of other people had picked the same spot! It was well worth the 800-mile drive (round-trip) to be able to capture the moon centered in the sun. The weather in Page was perfect, of course! And it's such a beautiful place to visit. Wow! What an experience! |
