Description

The Sun is just above the horizion surrounded by clouds on June 6, 2012 at sunrise, 30 minutes before the end of Venus transit. Photo taken from Stintino, a very small sea town in North-West Sardinia in Italy.

Description

Transit of Venus during sunset over the Rocky Mountains. I drove four hours west from Boulder, Colorado to find clear skies and photograph this historical event. As the Sun approached jagged peaks down a valley on the western horizon, smoke particles blown in from a distant forest fire caused the air to turn a vivid orange color.

Description

At the moment I took a burst of three photos (bracketing) a jetliner crossed the disc of the sun just missing the silhouette of Venus.
