Comet pan-STARRS and crescent moon. I was trying to get to the country for a better view when I hit a pot-hole and ruined a tire. I pulled over and pointed the camera toward where I thought the comet should be and opened the camera. I could not see the comet when I took the pic. Lucky shot.

On the evening of March 12th I was admiring the crescent moon above the desert surrounding our house near Gate’s Pass in Tucson, Arizona. Using Vortex Viper 8X42 binoculars I noticed the comet Pan Starrs to the left of the moon. I photographed moon and comet using a Canon 60D camera with 28-135mm stabilized lens. ISO 12800, f/5.6, 1/10 sec exposure. Photo was cropped and sized using Photoshop software, but is otherwise unaltered.
