Image collected by a Nikon D7000 camera with a 80-200 mm f/2.8 lens at about 110 mm. Exposure 4 seconds at f/5.

Description

Comet Panstarrs and the moon less than 4 degrees apart. Thin clouds added a wispy veil over the moon viewed from the Mojave Desert with mountains near Death Valley about 50 km away.

Description

WOW!! this was a tough one. Not as bright as hoped and took awhile to find it! I saw the comet at about 8:20pm ADT with my 7x50 binoculars and just noted it. Then after 10 min was able to just see it with the naked eye low in the NW. I shot a few images and this is the result. Data is on the images. Star trail near head is 51 Piscis at 5.8 mag. To get the tail I had to let the comet trail just a bit unfortunately.
