Description

You can see, to the right of the comet, the lights from the cities Olmué and Limache. This night, the tail span about 25 degrees, from the nucleus to Beta Piscis Austrinus, with his very impresive "aurora borealis" figure.

what makes this pic a "wow" is the tail that stretch's across a third of the frame. In the original 11meg TIFF, the clear stripes in the tail stand out

90 seconds, f3 at ISO400 By: Bill Dickinson Comet McNaught tail streamers were seen as twilight ends cast against the slightly dimmer zodiacal light. The three brightest streamers just visible to the unaided eye.
