Final tweaks (sharpening, cropping) done in Adobe Photoshop ElementsDescriptionI took some photos of the ISS as it passed overhead on the morning of Nov 6, around 5:45am. I've attached one of these photos, taken as it approached from the SW. I took these photos from the parking lot of Bergen Meadow Elementary. This was just after STS-120 had undocked, after delivering the Harmony modula and repairing the P6 truss solar panels. |
PhotographerJerome BlondellLocationLorton, Virginia, USADate8 Nov. 2007, 16:02 UTEquipmentCanon 10D digital camera at prime focus of Celestron C90, 90mm F/11. 30 second exposure.DescriptionThe diameter appears to be 0.325 degrees (20 minutes) or 62.5% the diameter of the sun. If the comet is 150 million miles away, that would make the diameter of the coma, visible in this photo, about 850,000 miles. |

PhotographerGreg StoneLocationWestport, MADateNovember 2, 2007, 4 aqmEquipment8-inchMeade LX90, MallinCam Color Hyper video cameraDescriptionI used a 12-second integration on the video camera which overeexposed most of the comet but seemed to bring out a dust tail of about 2-minutes of arc. Looked ot me like a cartoon of a speeding canon ball! I then did a sketch using pastels. |
