Description

Combined a 15 sec. exposure of the comet to show the inner coma detail, with a 40 sec. exposure that shows the yellow coma and green halo, to create this composite.

Description

Apparent shell structure with brighter/denser outer ring (looking through thicker outer edges of expanding sphere). Inner bright area non-symetric with nucleus. Large expanse required use of telecompressor for wider field. Photo by Scott Berg and Randy Buchwald

Well, it's a little over exposed but isn't that two objects in the center? I took several shots that showed the same thing.

Description

Tried again to capture comet Holmes tonight. The condition were much better than during my first try on the 28th. The comet expands furhter, it will be interesting to see how it develops from here.

Description

A single 1 second exposure of Comet 17P Holmes taken on 28 October 2007 using a Canon Power Shot A420 digital camera set to ISO 400 coupled to a 6 inch Newtonian reflector. I was fortunate to have at the time of the exposure the Moon entirely covered by clouds and the comet as well as the rest of the sky completely free.
