Description

This is a spatially compressed composite of five separate images. The tight image spacing retains all the image detail while presenting it in a more compact, aesthetically pleasing arrangement.

Description

Almost missed this eclipse due to the lack of hype (for a change) in the press about it. With all the photos pouring in of tomorrow's transit of Venus, this picture will probably get lost in the shuffle anyway. Oh, well...

Description

I was supposed to just use my DSLR to capture the lunar eclipse tonight, but upon seeing the eastern horizon clearing up, I immediately rushed home just in time to take this shot of the partial eclipse during its maximum.

Description

Finally capturing this event was a fun adventure in finding the right location. I chose this image from my sequence because it shows Baily's Beads in the upper left quadrant which are caused by the mountains and vallys on the moon's surface.

Description

Right place, right time, right equipment. The eclipsed sun's "ring of fire" is almost perfectly aligned with a distant windmill, spinning in the evening breeze.
