Description

Flew up over Northern California searching for clear skies. Finally turned right to Fallon Nevada. Hitched a ride to the center line of the eclipse and began capturing images at five second intervals. As the eclipse approached second contact, began to see prominences projecting past the edge of the moon. At second contact, prominences and bailey's beads appeared at the top, and a sunspot at the bottom of the image.

Description

New Mexico Tech kindly hosted an eclipse party at the Magdelena Ridge Observatory, enabling us to witness annularity at over 10,000 feet in altitude. This is a composite of exposures bringing out both surface features and promiences.

Description

During Sunday's eclipse, a large elm tree about 200 feet away cast huge pinhole images of the annularly eclipsed sun on a schoolhouse. Each pinhole image is 2 feet in diameter.

Description

This sequence shows the majority of the annular eclipse photographed at intervals. The sequence begins in the upper left hand corner showing the full solar disk with sunspots before first contact. The last image in the bottom row was taken just before the Sun became covered with clouds during the last half of egress. The three central images of the middle row show second contact, mid annular eclipse as seen from Redding, CA, and third contact, respectively.
