Atik Cameras unveils its newest compact CCD imager, the Atik 428EX ($2,250). This new camera features the sensitive 2.8-megapixel Sony ICX674 CCD detector with square 4.54-micron pixels. The Atik 428EX is a roughly 2-by-5-inch compact body that can cool down to 30°C (54°F) below ambient temperature. The camera connects to your PC via a mini-USB 2.0 cable and is controlled using the included Artemis Capture software; drivers are included for MaxIm DL, CCDSoft, or any ASCOM-compliant control program. Also included are a 3-meter (9.8-foot) USB cable and 1.8-meter cigarette-lighter power cable. The company’s website has additional details.
