User Guide for S&T's Mobile Sky ChartSettings
Chart Options:
Selecting this option enables you to set various chart options, including the date, time, and which star, planet, and constellation labels are displayed.
ZIP Code:
Selecting this option enables you to change your observing location (which determines which celestial objects are visible) by specifying a new five-digit ZIP code.
DST OFF/ON:
Selecting this option toggles daylight-saving time on or off. DST is set at start-up, according to today's date. Toggling DST on or off affects only the time displayed below the Sky Chart.
Location Details:
Selecting this option displays the latitude, longitude, city, and state corresponding to the currently selected ZIP code.
Chart Options
Time Display:
Selecting this option enables you to change the Sky Chart time. Use the Left and Right buttons to switch between hours, minutes, and AM/PM. When the hours or minutes are highlighted, use the Up or Down buttons to increase or decrease the value. When AM or PM is highlighted, use the Up or Down buttons to change the value. When finished, press Select to accept the new time. Or press Clear to return to Chart Options without changing the time. Default is 9:00 p.m.
Date Display:
Selecting this option enables you to change the Sky Chart date. Use the Left and Right buttons to switch between the month, day, and year. When any of these is highlighted, use the Up or Down buttons to increase or decrease the value. When finished, press Select to accept the new date. Or press Clear to return to Chart Options without changing the date. Default is today's date.
Planet Labels ON/OFF:
Selecting this option toggles planet labels on or off.
Constellation Labels ON/OFF:
Selecting this option toggles constellation labels on or off.
Constellation Lines ON/OFF:
Selecting this option toggles constellation lines on or off.
Star Names ON/OFF:
Selecting this option toggles bright star names on or off.
ZIP Code Entry
Press Clear up to five times, enter a new ZIP code using the number buttons, then press Select. The ZIP code is sent to SkyandTelescope.com, which returns the latitude and longitude corresponding to the new location. Or press Select without changing the ZIP code to return to the Settings menu without changing the location.
