Maximilian Teodorescu

Location of Photo:

Sinaia, Romania

Date/Time of photo:

February 13, 2015

Equipment:

TS APO 65Q F/6.5, Canon ROS 550D, ISO 3200. 8x5 min esposures.

Description:

Comet Q2 Lovejoy was still full of activity when I shot this image. Despite being further away from Earth compared to just a month ago, the comet is actually much easier to photograph due to the reduced speed it travels among the stars. The plasma blob and tail were rather bright that night. Compare the color view with the grayscale sequence, which was made from images from the night of February 12, 13 and 14 with the same equipment. The rapid evolution of the tail was fantastic.
