This image was taken with a Canon 700D DSLR with EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens set to 18MM at f/4, and a 30 second exposure at ISO 400
Description:
As soon as I stepped outside to image the aurora the other evening a long 'earth-grazing' meteor streaked overhead. Considering it a good sign, little did I know at the time that it would turn out to be a bit of foreshadowing as well; as having just examined some of the images I had taken during the peak of the sub-storm I found that (unfortunately in addition to some local air traffic), I had been lucky enough to capture a meteor in front of the auroral display. As a point of reference, the bright star near the top center of the image linked below is Polaris.
