Up until recently, all of my circular star trails photos have been made with a wide angle lens. This morning, I made an image with a 55mm lens and noted that Polaris seemed to be missing. Upon further reflection, I'm starting to realize that Polaris is not as precisely co-located with the Celestial North Pole as I had thought. Thus, I presume, it appears off center in images taken with longer focal lengths. In examining your image shot with the 300, is that large bright object located at approximately the 8 o'clock position Polaris?
