Date/Time of photo:

Equipment:

Taken on a Celestron Omni XLT 150 Reflecting Telescope, AVX Mount on a permanent pier, with a Thousand Oaks glass solar filter, and an Olympus 4/3 E-PL3 camera. Shot at 1/2000", ISO 400, Image captured in RAW format.

Description:

On the news this morning (Sept 6, 2017) they were reporting that a solar flare emitted an X9 Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) directed at Earth. Since we still had the solar eclipse equipment still set up in the telescope garage, we used it to capture this Sunspot Region 2673.
