Description:

We were very lucky to observe and image the rare and historic 2012 Transit of Venus in Quezon City, the Philippines. It was raining the previous evening and the sky was almost completely overcast until the time of the transit when the clouds intermittently cleared a bit to allow us to view and image the sun. This hydrogen alpha image shows Venus at past maximum transit with a hedge prominence at the Northeastern limb and sunspots with filaments below the transiting planet.
