In the dark of the moon, members of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers Association meet on Saturday evenings at Big Lagoon State Park for deep sky observing and astrophotography. To get admittance to the park, guests need to show up before sunset. Bring your telescope, binoculars, cameras for some of the best deep sky observing in the South East.

On the Saturday closest to the third quarter moon, members of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers host a star party at Big Lagoon State Park. These deep sky sessions feature astrophotography and deep sky observing for the public, campers, and club members. Bring your own scopes, binocs, and cameras.

Fort Pickens Sky Interpretation

For 42 years members of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers have volunteered in service to the Parks to lead sky interpretation sessions. We start with a video presentation in the Battery Worth Amphitheater at 7:30 PM, followed by telescopic observations of the Milky Way and other galaxies in the parking lot. Deep sky gaze on the Friday closest to the new moon for the NPS. Held from April-October at Battery Worth on Fort Pickens.
