Comet ISON Photo Contest
The "comet of the century" may have lost its battle against the Sun, but our photo contest carries on — Sky & Telescope continues to accept submissions to the Comet ISON Photo Contest, sponsored by Celestron.
In addition to recognition in the magazine and online, the top three astrophotographers who present the most beautiful shots of Comet ISON will receive the following Celestron prizes:
- Deadline for submission: Midnight EST December 31, 2013
- Finalists posted on our website for voting: January 8, 2014
- Voting ends: January 22, 2014
- Winners announced: April 2014 issue and online
How to Enter
We welcome comet photos of all kinds — including high-power telescopic photos and wide-field nightscapes — as long as Comet ISON is in the original exposure(s) being submitted. We'll accept up to five photo submissions per person. Read the contest rules.
Submit your photos to the contest, and good luck!
Note: For legal reasons, we unfortunately have to limit the contest to the U.S. and Canada. However, international astrophotographers are welcome to submit Comet ISON photos to S&T's online photo gallery, our Facebook page, or for publication in the magazine's Gallery.
Selecting the Winners
S&T editorial and art staffs will select about a dozen finalists from all the submissions. Then you make the final decision!
We'll post the finalists online and you'll be able to vote for the image you consider most beautiful between January 8 and January 22, 2014. S&T will announce the winners in the April 2014 issue and online.
