Dr. Paula Szkody (University of Washington) notes that science observations of PQ Andromedae with the Hubble Space Telescope have been scheduled for this coming Wednesday, September 12, 2007, and Thursday, September 13, 2007 (UT). Dr. Szkody requests intensive coverage of this variable star through the night of September 11-12, 2007 (Tuesday-Wednesday UT), which is when the final decision will be made on whether PQ Andromedae is in quiescence and is deemed safe to observe.

Please use the observing constraints given in AAVSO Alert Notice 356 as a guide when making observations. As stated in the Alert Notice, both positive detections and fainter-than estimates of PQ Andromedae are useful for this campaign. The primary requirement is that we can show that PQ And is faint enough to safely observe with the Hubble Space Telescope.

PQ Andromedae (0223+39) is a cataclysmic variable system that includes a pulsating white dwarf. It is located at R.A. 02^h 29^m 29.61^s, Dec +40° 02' 40.0" (equinox 2000.0).
