Astronomers are searching for solar twins – stars that have nearly identical properties to the Sun. By studying the activity cycles of solar twins, astronomers are getting a better handle on the Sun’s behavior, which in turn, influences Earth’s climate.

In an interview with S&T editor in chief Robert Naeye, astronomer Jeffrey Hall of Lowell Observatory discusses a variety of issues relating to the Sun’s activity cycle, what we are learning about the Sun from the study of other stars, and what the future holds for Earth’s climate.
