Alan Dyer

Alan Dyer is one of Canada's best known popularizers of astronomy, and is a veteran of numerous total and annular solar eclipses. His special interest in amateur astronomy is astrophotography of all types from nightscapes on film to deep-sky portraits on CCDs.

Alan is author or co-author of several astronomy books, including Pathfinders: Space for Reader's Digest, Advanced Skywatching for The Nature Company, and The Backyard Astronomer's Guide, now in its 9th printing. Alan serves as an editor and contributor to SkyNews, and is a contributing editor to Sky & Telescope magazine.

He can often be seen or heard on Alberta TV and radio, and on national media such as CBC Newsworld and the Discovery Channel, describing the latest sky events on behalf of the Calgary Science Centre where he serves as a program producer.
