Orion Telescopes & Binoculars now offers the TeleTrack ($250), an ultra-portable mount built for small telescopes and cameras with telephoto lenses. TeleTrack features a motorized single-arm fork attached to a light-weight but sturdy aluminum tripod capable of handling scopes and cameras up to 8.8 pounds and 15 inches long. Your telescope attaches via either a Vixen-style dovetail bracket or the included removable L- bracket with a ¼-20 threaded post. Powered by eight AA batteries or an external 12-volt source, TeleTrack's dual-axis motors can follow celestial targets (up to 60° above the horizon) by pointing the scope at the north horizon when powering up and then inputting your latitude. Three tracking speeds allow you to slew, center, and even guide short duration astrophotos. The mount can also slew to six terrestrial locations of your choice and command your digital camera to snap a picture automatically with an included Canon shutter-release cable.
