The Trifid Nugget ($495) from Yankee Robotics is a dedicated autoguider compatible with just about any guidescope or off-axis guiding system. It features a CCD chip with a 648 by 488 array of 7.5-micron pixels in a lightweight, 1½-by-3½-inch housing, which is available with either C-mount threads or a 1¼-inch nosepiece. A single USB 2.0 cable connects the camera to a computer and also powers the unit — no additional control boxes or power supplies are necessary. The Trifid Nugget includes software drivers for such popular camera-control programs as CCDSoft and MaxIm DL.
