7I'm not directly involved with the production of the digital edition of Sky & Telescope. But since I'm de-facto webmaster, there are always a few loose ends I have to tie up — and I also have to field complaints.

December 2010 S&T
All digital subscribers are automatically sent e-mail when a new issue becomes available. Unfortunately, in the modern world of copious spam and aggressive spam filters, e-mail is no longer the reliable medium that it used to be. A sizable fraction of all e-mails that are sent out fail to land in their intended recipient's in-boxes.
So to supplement the e-mail notifications, I plan to post something on the S&T website every time a new digital issue is made available. Stay tuned for the January 2011 issue, which should be ready in a week or two.

I have subscribed to the digital version and can access the Dec. issue just fine. However, the Oct. and Nov. issues (which I accessed in those months) are no longer available to me.
This is an unacceptable limitation to not have access to past issues for which I have subscribed. I so not consider this ameliorated by downloading the issues to my computer. This add to clutter on my hard drive.
I will not be renewing the digital subscription unless this problem is fixed.

You should be able to get to back issues by clicking on the Archives tab at the bottom of each page. Does that not work for you?

The Archives tab at the bottom of the page does not work either. I've tried both the Oct & Nov issues and the site denies access to the earlier issues. When I click on the "mor information' link after being denied the website says "You have reached the limit on the number of computers on which you can open this Nxtbook." I have not opened any of the issues on any other computer than the one I'm using now.
I can sort of understand not allowing one to access issues which were available prior to one subscribing (but that would be a big selling point for S&T).

There's also a RSS feed for the digital issues if anyone uses google reader or whatever...

I can't seem to access the January 2011 issue that's linked from the RSS feed. It states that "The Nxtbook you were trying to access is no longer live".
