For the Record

A production error affected a diagram in S. Alan Stern's article "The 3rd Zone: Exploring the Kuiper Belt" in Sky & Telescope's November 2003 issue, pages 30–36. The illustration on the last page was supposed to show the observed colors of Kuiper Belt objects as of 1998, 2000, and 2003. Instead, the 2003 graph was omitted, and the 2000 graph appeared twice.

A copy of page 36 with the corrected diagram is available as a 113-kilobyte Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file, which may be downloaded for free by clicking the following link:

   . S&T: November 2003, page 36

To read or print the file, you'll need Adobe Reader software, which is available for free for computers running Windows, Mac OS, or Unix. If you don't already have a copy, visit Adobe's Web site to download the version appropriate to your operating system. For more information, consult the help files linked below.

Note: The version of Stern's article that will reside in the S&T Magazine Archive as of early December 2003 will contain the corrected illustration.

We apologize for any inconvenience this error may have caused.
