If you attended the 18th annual Northeast Astronomy Forum & Telescope Show,

Optical Guidance Systems's 24-inch Ritchey-Chrétien drew many longing stares from attendees at the 2009 Northeast Astronomy Forum.

S&T Photo

you could be forgiven for thinking that the recession of 2009 was over. Huge numbers of amateur astronomers flocked to Suffern, NY, to sample (and often buy) the wares of more than 100 exhibitors, new and old.

Telescopes on display ranged from several high-quality 50- and 60-mm refractors to a 10-inch refractor by APM Telescopes and an eye-catching equatorial-mounted 24-inch Ritchey-Chrétien by Optical Guidance Systems. Also on sale were innumerable books, binoculars, eyepieces, cameras, and other accessories.

Several excellent talks competed with the equipment for the attention of the attendees. And unseasonably warm and sunny weather on Saturday provided excellent solar viewing in the courtyard.

Agreed, this was one of the best NEAF's I have been to. The sheer volume of people was at times overwhelming.

Hope to see everyone again next, from the crew at Explora Dome

It would be nice to go but I'm a high scool student and I need to do my work. It's a bad idea to get an F on the report card for going to this.
